First Impressions
Appearance Mamoru is meant to be the picture of a 'dashing prince'. At 5'9, he's neither particularly tall nor particularly short. His color is dark, with black hair and dark blue eyes.

When not wearing a tux for his role in fighting crime, Mamoru is usually still dressed in nicer clothing, favoring button-downs and other more formal wear.

Normal Clothing
Tuxedo Mask
Demeanor & Attitude Cool, calm, and composed, Mamoru serves as the more sensible, level-headed balance to the more hyperactive Usagi. Coming from a place of wisdom and maturity, Mamoru takes justice seriously and won't hesitate to lecture or step in when needed.
Voice Smooth, calm, mature.
About
History  Please see the history written here
Personality Mamoru was created to be Naoko Takeuchi's (the creator) idea of a perfect man. Canonically handsome, he's serious and charming. Though his intelligence isn't as much of a focus as Ami's, he attends a prestigious high school and once he graduates, is selected by Harvard to attend a year-long program. Mamoru is also shown to read quite a bit, even when he's with Usagi at the arcade, and often uses this hobby as a way to do research. Between his intelligence and his seriousness, he's often a voice of reason for Usagi, seeing things in a more practical manner. This is further compounded by the fact he not only lives on his own, but he's also several years older than the scouts.

This maturity manifests in other ways as well. As much as he loves Usagi, he's willing to be stern with her as well, usually shown when he points out her late entries or lectures her over her attitude toward Chibiusa. Through minor characters, we see that he adopts a loving but serious attitude toward his juniors as well, reminding them to be serious in the same breath as saying he's sure that they'll do fine. It also manifests in less-than-fun ways, such as when he refuses to get on the carnival rides. Humorously, he has no explanation. He 'just doesn't do that kind of thing'. That kind of thing is 'have fun'. He doesn't have fun.

In addition to his charisma, the reason he manages to have such luck with people is his empathy. While he is stern when he sees a reason, he's also comforting and can even be a little silly in the right circumstances. When Chibiusa arrives in their time, he's much more gentle with her, even going so far to play with a hand puppet to cheer her up. When Usagi expresses jealousy, he points out how difficult it must be for her to be so far away from everyone she knows. This attitude is adopted even before he finds out she's his future daughter.

Like Usagi, he's stubborn and believes in his friends. While he isn't as energetic as his girlfriend, Mamou has the same kind of faith in those around him and often reminds Usagi of her own abilities. When she has given up on herself, he continues to have faith in her, no matter how dire the circumstances.

It's easy to assume Mamoru is someone without fault aside from being too serious about life. However, that isn't true. He's capable of doubting himself as well. Later on in the series, he feels useless, worrying he's only a burden on the Sailor Senshi. He grows concerned that he can't help them, which is later helped when it's discovered he has the Golden Crystal. This becomes so extreme that he hides the extent of his growing sickness from Usagi, even pretending to be cleared by a doctor while still coughing up black blood. He's also seen to be jealous of Sailor Uranus, who flirts with Usagi when in her civilian form. Later, he says that he trusts her, and he does, but the jealous was present in the moment.

His attitude toward people isn't always perfect. While it seems like the outlier and is a behavior we don't see elsewhere, Mamoru is rude to Usagi when they first meet, calling her a nickname and mocking her test score. While this quickly vanishes, it does continue for a few meetings. Mamoru also makes the horrible, rash decision to announce his intentions to the public when under the guise of Tuxedo Mask. Proving that he isn't the kind to play nice, he's also more suspicious of Neptune when they first meet as he's unsure if she's a friend or foe. While he's still perfectly cordial, he also doesn't pretend to trust her more than he does.

Perhaps, the most obvious way that he acts his age is his reaction to love. While he's a charismatic, mysterious figure much of the time, Mamoru isn't above blushing and acting as embarrassed about the idea of Usagi or love. Even if he trusts his girlfriend completely, it's hard not to when you're literally destined, he's also capable of jealousy, though it's resolved quickly when he becomes more willing to talk about it.

Skills Fighter.

Mamoru has a few abilities that come from his former life, such as the Tuxedo Smoking Bomber, which is basically an energy beam. He's also able to take a bit of damage, and ... jump really high? He also has the ability to give his power to Sailor Moon to make her stronger. Occasionally, he can have visions that are trigger through touch, but it's hit and miss (mostly miss).

Minor Healing/Medical Studies

Mamoru is capable of healing minor injuries using his magic. Additionally, Mamoru is in medical school so it's safe to assume he has some real-world medical skills as well.

Intelligence

Though it's often not the focus, Mamoru is very intelligent. He manages to get into a highly prestigious school and has no problem getting into medical school upon graduation.

Shipping I'm very open to shipping. Anything in canon will have to compete with, and will probably lose to, Usagi. However, I'm willing to work with others who may want to try that route.

Who

✔ M/F, M/M

☆ Canonmates - In memes, I'm pretty open game when we can make them work. The only 'no' is Chibausa (though I'd love to play off her in gen memes). If we can figure out a way to make it work, I'm for it.  ☆ Crosscanon - Other anime, manga, LA shows and movies, comics, books, etc. No exclusions.
☆ OCs - I'm fine with OCs. If we're assuming CR, I do ask I have a little bit of personality info.
☆ Copies of himself - I'd prefer not. It just feels odd to me. This doesn't apply to multi-verse Spider-Mans...Spider-Men... ?

I'm open to tense or antagonistic relationships as well as nicer, softer threads.

Threading Information ☆ I'm currently up to date with the Saillor Moon reboots and with the manga. At the moment, I don't play from the older anime, but I'd love to play with characters from that time.
☆ I'm also fine with canon divergence for both canon mates and cross-canon

Warnings
☆Mind control/Nonconsensual touching Mamoru is brainwashed three times within the series by people who either fancy themselves in love with him or want to use Usagi's love for him against her. In his brainwashed state, he's kissed/made to kiss them. Which brings me to...

☆Incest kind of? His future daughter is turned dark and her love for him is twisted. She brainwashes him, gets him to attack his future wife/her future mother, and then forces him to kiss her.

☆SuicideUsagi's past self kills herself after Mamoru dies.

⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: Mamoru Chiba
Age: 19
Canon: Sailor Moon (manga)
Canon Point: Manga ending, pre-marriage
Background: wiki for his past life, wiki 1, wiki 2 Wiki 2 focuses on Sailor Moon Crystal, but it’s faithful to the manga. However, the manga continues after Crystal so I'll be writing that short portion here.

Once upon a time, Maoru was known as Prince Endymion. Just as Usagi, then known as Princess Serenity, was Princess of the Moon, he was Prince of the Earth, making their romance forbidden. However, one day, he noticed her watching him and soon, they fell in love. Before they were able to have a life together, Queen Metaria poisoned the mind's of Earth's population against the Moon, staring a war. For the only time ever, Endymion wasn't brainwashed, and instead, he tried to stop the war. He died protecting Princess Serenity, the killing blow coming from the jealous woman that would later become Queen Beryl.

The Moon Kingdom lost, and everyone was reborn on Earth, sans memories. Endymion was born Mamoru Chiba, but his luck wasn't any better the second time around. When he was only six, his parents were killed in the same car crash that took his memories. When he became old enough, he got an apartment on his own while still in high school. During this time, he also starts stealing in hopes of finding the Silver Crystal. In a rash decision, he announces his goal to the news, which creates further conflict between him and the scouts. However, he also confesses his intent to them as well.

In the end, he isn't their enemy. During this time, he's constant saving Sailor Moon, both physically and mentally. When he's not swooping in to catch her, he's encouraging her to believe in her own power. His affection for her builds, and he starts to lament being more help. It comes to a head when he takes a blow meant for her, causing his (near) death. Sailor Moon's tears materialize as a piece of the crystal, which sinks into Mamoru's body. As he now possessed a piece of the crystal, Mamoru is kidnapped by the enemy, who attempt to extra the jewel from his unconscious form. It fails, but Beryl has other plans for Mamoru since her obsession has transferred over to reborn identity. Also during this time, Kunzite remembers that he and the other three who had been serving Beryl/Metaria were actually Earth's Generals, serving under Prince Endymion. Sadly, Beryl reinforces her brainwashing technique.

When we next see a conscious Mamoru, he too is brainwashed. As part of his plan to gain access to the arcade which hides the Sailor Senshi's center, he hypnotizes Motoki into believing he's his friend 'Endou'. Though she has her doubts, this somehow manages to fool Sailor Moon as well. Eventually, he gains access to the control center, and Queen Beryl appears to explain her plan. When Beryl is weakened by the combined power of the scouts, Mamoru steals their sacred sword and retreats to the Dark Kingdom. Here, Usagi discovers that the Silver Crystal inside of Mamoru is the reason for his strength, and she's forced to kill him in order to retrieve it. Directly after, she also kills herself, and the crystal is made whole.

Ironically, it's the same crystal which saves them when Queen Metaria consumes their bodies in order to get the crystal. After the scouts are killed, it's revealed that Mamoru and Usagi are still alive inside of Metaria. Lending his strength to Usagi, Sailor Moon manages to defeat the enemy and undo her damage.

Things are good for them for about 2.5 seconds. While Mamoru and Usagi are enjoying their time together, Chibiusa falls from the literal sky and breaks the two apart. Chibiusa is a mysterious girl who has a version of the Silver Crystal and claims to be trying to help her mom. Once, upon touching her, Mamoru is able to get a glimpse of a traumatic event, but he doesn't get more answers than that. While Chibiusa officially lives with Usagi, she's often with Mamoru, who does his best to cheer her up and comfort her. This creations friction between Mamoru and Usagi.

It's finally revealed that Chibiusa is their future daughter and had come from the future in order to get help for their new kingdom, which has once more been attacked. Queen Serenity now sleeps as the crystal tries to heal her body, but King Endymion and the Scouts seemed to have died. However, unlike the others, Endymion still exists as a spirit, and he helps in what way he can. We also meet Sailor Pluto, the guardian of time, who protects the gate. She seems to be loyal to the entire family, but it also seems she's become close friends with Endymion in particular.

When Prince Demande kidnaps Sailor Moon out of love (there's a lot of that happening here), things begin to fall apart. Eventually, Chibiusa runs away without her time key, which should mean she's unable to come back to the gate between time. On this particular adventure, she's seduced to the darkside by Wiseman, who not only undoes the freeze on her growth but also corrupts her heart. The result is an evil adult woman who still harbors the crush her child form carried for her father. When Mamoru runs after her, we're treated to kidnapping and brainwashing numero dos.

Chibiusa, now known as Black Lady, manages to capture the Sailor Senshi and is mentally torturing Sailor Moon while kissing all up on her dad. When it's revealed that Demande is actually no longer under Wiseman's control, and with Black Lady having the crystals, things look dire until Sailor Pluto sacrifices herself to save them. This undoes Mamoru's brainwashing, frees the Sailor Senshi, and returns Chibiusa back to normal. Working together, Black Moon is defeated.

Again, things are peaceful. Until they're not. Monsters start appearing again at the same time two new students enter their lives (Michiru Kaioh and Haruka Tenno), who they later discover to be Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus respectively. While Haruka focuses on Haruka, Michiru focuses on Mamoru. However, Mamoru doesn't play a big part in this arc until Chibiusa loses her soul. It's at that time that he links his energy to hers and manages to keep her alive until Hotaru (Sailor Saturn's civilian name) heals her completely. It's then that he asks if she's ready to help the others fight, looking heartbroken as he does.

This threat is defeated by Sailor Moon working with the newly-awakened Sailor Saturn.

Life moves on. The city is still in one piece thanks to Sailor Moon. The Senshi start high school and Mamoru starts university. This time, the threat that comes is known as the Dark Moon Circus. This enemy is unique in that they have their eye on the Golden Crystal, Earth's equivalent to Silver Crystal. If the Princess of the Moon has the Silver Crystal, want to guess who has the Golden Crystal? If you guess Mamoru, 10 points. However, he won't know this until the end of the arc. First, Mamoru gets very sick. When he goes to the doctor, they find a shadow over his lung, and he begins to cough up black blood. This is a detail he actively hides from everyone until he collapses. It's during this time that we find out the Pegasus that has been appearing to Chibiusa in her dreams is Helios, guardian of the Golden Crystal and high-priest of Elysion, which in turn protects Earth. Sadly, Helios is experiencing the same pain as Mamoru, thanks to the dark rose that has been planted in their chests. By this time, Elysion has fallen to Dark Moon, and he fears that Earth will soon follow.

When Usagi and Mamoru are hit by an enemy's curse, they de-age and become children until disappearing and reappearing in Elysion. Here, Helios tells them they need to find the Golden Crystal, which Usagi is smart enough to guess is inside of Mamoru. When Queen Nehelenia (who does not try to kidnap and brainwash Mamoru), tries to kill them, Helios sends them back to the others. Here, Mamoru is able to free the Senshi from the curse which had trapped them in nightmares.

When Sailor Moon finally turns into Super Sailor Moon, another one bites the dust.

Mamoru, being the boss he is, is chosen by Harvard to attend a year-long program in America. As Usagi is seeing him off, he dies, his body just crumbling away. Sailor Galaxia takes away his Golden Crystal. Usagi is so distraught over the image, she blocks it out and assumes he made it safely to America. Sailor Galaxia and the Sailor Animamates start to kill the Senshi in order to gain their crystals and eventually, Usagi remembers that Mamoru never made it to the plane.

The next time we see Mamoru, it isn't really him. Galaxia revives the forms of the senshi and Mamoru, all of which are under her command. She forces them to fight Sailor Moon before destroying them, saying that she can do it again and again. Mamoru sticks around a little longer because it's a rule that he has to kiss big female villains, but once that box is checked, he's 'killed' again as well. Eventually, Usagi's selfless attitude and determination inspires arc original ChibiChibi never to give up, which causes her to transform into Sailor Cosmos, which is really Sailor Moon's ultimate future form. Using the same cauldron, the source of all living things, they had wanted Usagi to destroy, everyone is brought back.

After a time skip, we see Mamoru and Usagi's wedding, though I'll be taking him from soon after their revival.

Brainwashy. It happens three(ish) times so it's a personality trait now.

Abilities: This form doesn't throw roses. Instead, he has the Tuxedo Smoking Bomber, which is basically an energy beam.

We also see him experience visions through touch. As it's not something that happens on a regular basis, I consider this very situational and will likely rarely, if ever, use it.

As we see in a flashback, he also has the ability to heal, as evidenced by the time he healed the abrasion on his arm. It's actually not explored very much or explained so I assume it's only applicable to minor injuries.

Mamoru is also in possession of the Golden Crystal, which is the Earth's version of the Moon's Silver Crystal. As with many of his ability, this is left pretty vague, but it's likely the power source to his other skills. Aside from that, it seems to have powered up Usagi a few times, allowing her to grow as Sailor Moon.

Alignment: [Choose from one of the following: Thras. Mamoru is willing to sacrifice himself for the people he loves and will face horrifying odds to protect what's important
